Hi, I’m Mark Bedford. Together with Maggiebeth Sand, I launched Arq Music as an outlet for our various projects and collaborations.

My background is mainly in composing and musical direction for theatre and TV, though I have also formed my own projects, mainly the instrumental jazz/folk duo Stone Arcade (with Al Whelan) and, with Maggiebeth, the neo-mediaeval/world music outfit, Arcantus.

My first album, “Heritage,” features arrangements of mid and down-tempo Celtic themes. It features leading musicians, such as uillean piper Steáfan Hannigan (known for his work with Loreena McKennitt, amongst others) and violinist Ric Sanders (Fairport Convention.)

My second, also features the voice of Maggiebeth, along with that of Nigel Middleton, in orchestral re-imaginings of British folk songs.

Again, a word about streaming sites- we like them as much as you do! (OK, eight words.) They've opened up access to independent musicians who would otherwise never have got their music out to the public But... they don't pay much, and for small labels like us, it's hard to make anything back to recompense us for all the work that we put in... (right, end of sob story...)
